SUQ A GENOVA
An exotic market
The fourth edition of “Suq a Genova – Multiethnic Festival” is to be held at the Loggia della Mercanzia in Piazza Banchi in Genoa, from the 15th until the 22th
June.
In the fifteenth century Loggia an exotic market is to be constructed, with more than twenty stalls enlivened by traders and
craftsmen.
On the centre stage, every day from 5,30 p.m. until midnight, there’ll be a continual coming and going of shows, readings, cookery lessons, dancing and
children’s events.
On June 16th the Suq is offering a special programme with the “Children Bazaar”, a mini market of toys and second hand goods open to all children; a “Treasure Hunt” in the old town on the themes of the environment and multicultural integration; the parade of the focaccia barrows in Piazza Banchi and Sottoripa.
There’s also the “Tea and Coffee ceremony”, cookery demonstrations and music.
On Monday 17th at 6 p.m. we draw your attention to the “Ballo sul Tamburo”: a seminar with performers of traditional Neapolitan music; at 9 p.m. a show-concert “La Paranza dell’Agro”, the whole repertoire being of Neapolitan
origin.
On Wednesday 19th at 9 p.m. another concert-show dedicated to the Argentina Tango, while on Friday 21th there is the “Festa della Musica”. Saturday 22th at 7.30 p.m. sees a multiethnic buffet followed by the final show of “Danza del Ventre” with 15 dancers.
